Philosophy and the Power of First-Level-Leadership

Leadership Development Program, Leadership Development Programme

Core Philosophy:

As you click on First-Level-Leadership for the very first time, in many ways you are ideating how First-Level-Leadership can help you learn one of the most elusive topics – Leadership Skills. A long time ago, before this website was even conceptualized, I started researching and developing rich and useful content to share with like-minded readers. It is my belief that Leadership Development is synonymous with self-development. It is, in fact, a quest for self-discovery, which is my core and guiding philosophy.

A school of Thought

Let me ask you a few questions.

What is your philosophy of leading?

What inspires you?

From where do you get your powers?

What challenges you?

What encourages you?

What gives you competence?

When you unravel the hidden answers, your guiding principles will emerge. You will then be able to learn what it takes to dredge those very qualities out of others, and lead them forward successfully.

What is the best way to learn something?

Answer: Experiential Learning

WRONG

I am not trying to philosophize here; however, I must state that the best way to learn something is to – TEACH someone. Somebody once said, “The things we want to learn are the things we want to teach.” Think about this profound statement …, and new vistas will unfold before you.

I am a fan of the same philosophy of learning

therefore, I don’t just ask you to learn, but to be a teacher as well. By teaching, I do not necessarily mean that you have to be in a classroom full of students. You could be explaining a concept or an idea to a friend, spouse, a child or anyone…But I hope you get the drift. Teaching is an integral part of internalizing a lesson. When you have successfully managed to internalize it, you can always externalize it at will.

My philosophy is not about gushing in information

It is about leading out of what is already in your mind. You are very talented, and not an empty vessel into which everything has to be poured. You are more like an acorn, which contains within itself all the potential to be a splendid oak tree.

Therefore, I believe in a "non-intrusive style" of learning. I am not keen on filling you with academic information, but rather, I wish to make learning easy and liberating.

Through this website and monthly newsletter,

it is my humble but sincere attempt to take the sting out of learning, and help you realize what resides within you.

On a lighter note, shall I say…?

Those who could not learn have often taken to teaching. Preachers say, “Do as I say, not as I do.”

First Level Leadership is rich and varied,

and contains seeds of transformative learning. It is tempered with multiple interpretations along with a hint of humor. I have written the content in a personal style in which most of the content has come from experiential learning. Throughout this website I have more often used the masculine gender, not because I am a sexist, which I certainly am not, but just to avoid the literally clumsiness of ‘he or she' and ‘his or her.’

I founded First-Level-Leadership

partly due to the influence of many people whom I have met and some whom I have never met. I have also been very lucky to participate in programs led by some of the most seasoned training professionals in the business who conveyed one thing – “Pay it forward.”

I bring over fourteen years of business experience

along with a degree in MBA (Total Quality Management and Benchmarking) from the University of Leicester, UK; a Diploma in Teaching and Training, and a degree in Hotel Management as well.

With a view to increasing revenue and yield,

I have successfully enhanced the skills and competencies of employees through wide-ranging superior trainings in areas such as market interpretation and analysis, contact management system, market and sales support systems, persuasive presentations, interpersonal interactions and behavioral awareness.

Finally, I found my true metier in Leadership Training

Extensive traveling has allowed me to learn some of the best lessons of my career from the multicultural and multinational participants that I have trained over the years. Now I live in Canada - in the busy and bustling city of Toronto.

Why Visit First Level Leadership?

Training is what I do. Teaching is a passion with me. I teach to learn and then to earn; therefore, I do not compromise quality for the sake of profits.

This website is about the establishment of key leadership skills with a collection of articles, thoughts, stories, anecdotes, audio files, personal experiences, etc. Actually, it is an endeavor to share knowledge with you. One final note: Philosophy of Assumption

When I was studying management, I learnt a very important lesson from an able professor. He said, “Before mentioning your viewpoints, always highlight your assumptions upfront...”

Therefore, using the same philosophy

while setting up this website I have made a few assumptions:

• You are either a first-level or middle-level leader in a company.

• You are experiencing some leadership challenges.

• You take responsibility of your self development.

• You agree that effective leadership skills are directly proportional to performance and productivity.

• You want your direct reports to be happy.

• You want to have greater confidence in your leadership and the leadership of your direct reports.

I am certain you must have taken a few steps

consciously or unconsciously to build your leadership skills, but have a fervent desire to learn more. Well, you have arrived at the right place. Here you will find the choicest and the most essential lessons in how to develop your leadership skills. Believe me, there is a lot you can learn from this treasure trove.

Enjoy your trip to First-Level-Leadership
