Leadership Traits
Let’s identify effective leadership traits

To everything you need, sits on the first step. Take a whiff…

of the most interesting thing that you can carry with you to any place in the world. It is a repertoire of transferable skills. You can carry them in few easy steps, and each step will be made in the wink of an eye, if you follow this website regularly.

Let’s venture a step nearer...

Since this is the first stride towards developing your leadership traits, I have tried to keep this page as simple as possible.

 Leadership Traits, Effective Leadership Traits

Is it a coincidence or an accident…? that the concise Oxford Dictionary does not give a clear definition of a leader? It mentions like leading an orchestra or, a person or thing that leads, a person or thing that is the most successful or advanced in a particular area, the principal player in a music group.

Perhaps is it that

leadership is difficult to define in few words. Nevertheless, First Level Leaders like you have a need to understand clearly, what leadership is, and what constitutes effective leadership.

There are no born leaders;

though you could say that some people are born with the characteristics of a leader. However, the skills and techniques required to be an effective leader can be learned.

A successful leader must have personal power and knowledge.

It is a given premise. However, such knowledge is not complete and does not do much to contribute to effective leadership.

Allow me to refresh your mind, and swell your pride with essential leadership traits

There are no exact answers, but I have distilled them into three areas:

1. The right attitude
2. The Power to motivate your employees
3. The ability to manage and maintain teams

Attitude suggestive of definable traits

As Aristotle said, “Thus, a habit is a habit of something, knowledge is a knowledge of something, and attitude is the attitude of something.” Your own attitude will be highly indicative of your leadership style. The right attitude is the original cause of effective leadership.

Motivating the people means transforming them from average performers

to above-average performers by applying energy and enthusiasm to their jobs. This requires the conscious awareness within the leader of the ways and means to do it.

Team building also requires

specific skills that you are not born with. It is asking for too much if you think people will work in a collaborative, accommodative and naturally supportive way without the right leadership.

Nevertheless, to speak paradoxically,

you cannot define leadership in a few words. However, it is entirely possible to identify the effective leadership traits. These leadership traits demand a range of techniques as well:

• How to set objectives
• How to develop people

Don’t confuse leadership with the technique of leadership

These techniques or shall I say ‘skills’ can be taught. However, it is the application of these skills that will get the results. Paying more attention to leading pays off, because a winning smile or the good luck charm and influence with you may be born with, is not enough.

Let me quickly summarize

The basic requirements for effective leadership are:

1) Definable personal attitude
2) Ability to motivate
3) Ability to maintain team

These requirements demand the knowledge of how to set objectives and how to develop people.
